African Language Academy – Welcome to Our Website. We Teach – Bemba | Lunda | Nyanja | Shona | Tonga | Swahili | Lozi | Kaonde | Luvale | and Other African Languages 

ALAA’s language program is structured across three progressive levels: Level 1 introduces learners to foundational communication skills, basic vocabulary, pronunciation, and everyday expressions; Level 2 builds on this by expanding grammar, conversational ability, and cultural understanding through practical reading and listening activities; and Level 3 advances learners toward confident, real life communication, focusing on fluency, complex sentence structures, and deeper cultural immersion.

Level 1: Foundations

Level 1 provides learners with a strong foundation in the basics of the language. Course materials include:

  • Alphabet and pronunciation guides
  • Essential greetings and everyday expressions
  • Introduction to numbers, colours, family, and common objects
  • Basic sentence structure and simple verbs
  • Cultural notes introducing traditions, values, and identity
  • Practice activities such as flashcards, worksheets, and short dialogues

Ideal for beginners, children, and adults starting their language journey.

Level 2: Developing Skills

Level 2 strengthens learners’ confidence by expanding vocabulary, communication skills, and cultural understanding. Course materials include:

  • Expanded vocabulary (foods, school, home, community, weather, transport)
  • Intermediate grammar (tenses, adjectives, possessives, questions)
  • Reading and listening exercises with short stories and conversations
  • Cultural modules (customs, greetings etiquette, meaningful proverbs)
  • Speaking practice through role plays and guided conversation tasks

Ideal for learners who can form basic sentences and want deeper engagement.

Level 3: Proficiency & Application

Level 3 prepares learners to use the language more fluently and confidently in real-life situations. Course materials include:

  • Advanced vocabulary themes (work, travel, health, celebrations, social issues)
  • Complex grammar structures and improved sentence construction
  • Longer reading texts, story comprehension, and listening activities
  • Cultural immersion topics (history, arts, festivals, music, and community practices)
  • Conversational fluency tasks such as debates, storytelling, and real-world scenarios
  • Project-based assignments integrating language and cultural understanding

Face to Face (F2F) – 10 Week Program

Our 10 week Face to Face program provides an engaging in person learning experience, offering structured lessons, interactive activities, and personalised support. Ideal for learners who thrive in a classroom environment and enjoy direct interaction with instructors and peers.

Online Delivery – 12 Week Program

The 12 week online program offers flexible, accessible learning through virtual classes delivered via Zoom. It includes guided lessons, digital resources, and interactive assignments—perfect for learners who need convenience without compromising quality.

Community Group Subscription – Minimum 10 Learners

Designed for cultural groups, community associations, or extended families, this option provides group-based learning for ten or more participants. It encourages shared learning, cultural bonding, and collective language practice tailored to the needs of the group.

Travel Contextualised Lessons

Specially designed for individuals or families preparing to travel to African countries, these lessons focus on practical language, cultural etiquette, greetings, and essential phrases to enhance travel experiences and strengthen connections with local communities.
